Pathologists spend much time and effort screening through microscopic images of patients to understand if the patient has abnormal cells, Path AI says “it’s like searching for blue cars from Satellite imagery”. AI can help identify or isolate areas of the image the pathologist needs to focus on and saving time and effort. If this is accurate, pathologists can spend more time doing what? Will their jobs be replaced by AI robots? I don’t know but I know that humans are not great at repetitive tasks, there is fatigue, boredom and “familiarity breeds contempt”, perhaps AI machines can do a better job at this and humans can divert their attention onto aspects that require human emotional and intuitive elements on the job.
